Introduction
Fusidic acid is a dermatological antibiotic with potent antibacterial activity, particularly against staphylococcal infections. It exhibits high sensitivity against staphylococci and shows no cross-resistance with other antibiotics. However, this drug is not effective for treating post-acne hyperpigmentation (acne marks). To protect your skin, avoid excessive exposure to radiation and limit use of electronic devices such as computers and smartphones, as electromagnetic radiation from these devices may contribute to skin darkening.

Fusidic acid is a commonly used drug in clinical medicine and belongs to the class of antibiotics. Its primary indication is the treatment of various skin infections caused by bacterial pathogens. However, post-acne hyperpigmentation (commonly referred to as “acne marks”)—a residual skin concern following acne—is not effectively treated with fusidic acid.

Does fusidic acid cause or worsen post-acne marks?

Fusidic acid is a dermatological antibiotic with potent activity against staphylococcal species—including Staphylococcus aureus—and exhibits no cross-resistance with other commonly used antibiotics. Importantly, it does not treat post-acne marks. Effective approaches for reducing or fading such marks include the following:

Minimize exposure to radiation sources—such as computers and smartphones—as electromagnetic radiation may contribute to skin darkening.

Avoid squeezing or picking at acne lesions. Improper extraction without adequate disinfection increases the risk of scarring and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. If extraction of a fully mature, large pustule is necessary, strict aseptic technique must be followed.

Ensure daily intake of vitamin-rich foods—particularly vitamins C and E—to support skin repair and help fade hyperpigmentation.

Apply brightening masks twice weekly to assist in lightening post-acne marks.

Wash your face with the second rinse water from rinsing rice. This water contains multiple nutrients beneficial for skin health and may help promote even skin tone.

Use lukewarm water for facial cleansing, adding 1–2 drops of white vinegar to help gradually lighten acne scars—consistent, long-term use is required for optimal results.

Whether treating disease or pursuing cosmetic improvement, selecting the appropriate therapy based on accurate diagnosis is essential. Only by targeting the underlying cause and specific pathology can treatment yield optimal, efficient outcomes—helping you recover more quickly and avoid unnecessary detours.

We hope the above information is helpful to you. Wishing you good health and happiness!
