Once pregnancy is confirmed, women should begin wearing anti-radiation garments and continue wearing them until delivery. In addition to initiating radiation protection early, expectant mothers should also be aware of proper daily usage practices for these garments. Incorrect or improper use may significantly compromise their radiation-shielding effectiveness—potentially rendering them ineffective.

Anti-radiation garments should not be washed too frequently, as excessive washing can damage the radiation-shielding fiber structure of the fabric, ultimately diminishing protective efficacy. If washing is necessary, use only purified water or cooled boiled water. Avoid tap water, as its chloride ions and alkaline components can corrode the metallic and silver fibers embedded in the garment—especially silver fibers. Silver fibers are less chemically stable than other metallic fibers and are more prone to reacting with chloride ions or alkaline substances, leading to a reduction in the concentration of radiation-shielding fibers within the fabric and consequently weakening overall radiation protection.
