Introduction
Acne on the face is commonly associated with internal heat, blood heat, and excessive heat in the gastrointestinal tract and lungs in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM); in Western medicine, it is attributed to infection by *Cutibacterium acnes* (formerly *Propionibacterium acnes*). Topical treatment options include ofloxacin gel applied twice daily or fusidic acid ointment applied twice daily. Additionally, adapalene gel may be applied once daily—preferably at bedtime. Maintain a light, bland diet; avoid cold or frozen beverages, sour/spicy/fried foods, and deep-fried items.

Maintain a light, balanced diet—avoid icy or cold beverages, sour, spicy, fried, or greasy foods. Aim to go to bed before 11 p.m. and avoid staying up late, which helps prevent acne development. Acne (also known as acne vulgaris) requires appropriate skincare: use an oil-controlling, moisturizing facial cleanser; maintain water temperature around 35°C during cleansing; after washing, gently pat skin with an astringent toner or facial mist to hydrate and cleanse, removing dirt and dead skin cells; avoid staying up late—try to sleep before 11 p.m.; limit intake of spicy, stimulating, oily, and overly sweet foods; and never squeeze or pick at pimples to prevent skin inflammation and post-acne scarring.
