Moderate-purine foods include shellfish, pork, beef, smoked ham, poultry (e.g., chicken and duck). These foods contain relatively high purine levels and are not recommended for individuals with hyperuricemia. Low-purine foods include most vegetables, bread, and coarse grains. Foods containing the lowest purine levels include rice, wheat, millet, and cornmeal.
