Disease description:

I am 20 years old and have never had a regular exercise habit. Recently, I noticed my heart rate increases significantly after exercising. Could you please advise: what is the maximum recommended heart rate (in beats per minute) after exercise?

Dr. Kou Linlin
Post-exercise heart rate should ideally not exceed approximately 110 beats per minute (bpm), though this target should be individualized based on one’s usual resting heart rate. Following intense physical activity, blood pressure and heart rate may transiently increase; however, after a brief period of rest, heart rate typically returns gradually to baseline. In young adults, a slightly higher resting heart rate is normal; a resting heart rate of up to about 100 bpm is generally considered within the normal range.
