What Is an Epididymal Cyst?
Disease description:
I’ve been experiencing a persistent sensation of heaviness and discomfort in the scrotal area over the past two days. After visiting the hospital for an examination, I was diagnosed with an epididymal cyst. What does this mean?
Epididymal cysts—also known as spermatoceles—are cystic masses that primarily occur in the epididymis. They are mostly caused by accumulation of sperm and represent benign lesions, most commonly arising in the head of the epididymis. This condition typically produces no clinical symptoms; however, in rare cases where the cyst is large, patients may experience pain or a sensation of heaviness or dragging in the scrotum.
