Why Does My Baby Snore?

If a baby snores without other accompanying symptoms, it may be due to obesity or upper respiratory tract inflammation. Excess body weight can lead to thickening of the pharyngeal structures, narrowing the airway and causing snoring. Similarly, acute or chronic respiratory tract inflammation—particularly involving the nasal mucosa—can cause mucosal congestion and edema. As the condition progresses, it may result in tonsillar and adenoidal hypertrophy, obstructing airflow through the nasopharynx and thereby contributing to snoring.
