Which acupressure points can be massaged to relieve a baby’s cough?
Disease description:
A three-month-old baby has been coughing occasionally lately, with symptoms somewhat more pronounced at night. However, given the baby’s young age, we’d prefer to avoid subjecting him to discomfort. Others have suggested that massage may help alleviate the cough. Could you please advise which areas can be massaged for an infant’s cough?
Acupoints such as Tianmen (GV23) and Dazhui (GV14). Before massage, gently rub your hands together to generate warmth. When hand temperature is slightly higher than normal, the therapeutic effect is enhanced. To prevent coughing, pay close attention to seasonal changes. Most coughs result from the common cold; therefore, during winter, while keeping warm, ensure appropriate cold-protective clothing—avoid getting chilled. Additionally, rubbing the anterior chest and back—using one hand to rub the front of the chest and the back of the other hand, then alternating hands—until warmth is felt can serve as an adjunctive therapy for cough.
