What causes prostate enlargement?
Disease description:
I am 42 years old. Recently, I've been feeling lethargic and sometimes experience urgency in urination. After a hospital checkup, the doctor diagnosed me with enlarged prostate. I would like to know what causes prostate enlargement.
Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is generally caused by conditions such as prostatitis and prostate enlargement. After the prostate becomes inflamed or infected, it may become congested and swollen, leading to an increase in volume. Prostate enlargement is typically triggered by long-term stimulation of the prostate by male hormones (androgens), and patients may experience the aforementioned symptoms. Individuals with these symptoms should seek timely medical evaluation and treatment, which may include interventions such as catheter placement.
