Disease description:

Recently, there was a medical knowledge competition held in the neighborhood. Since I had some free time, I went to listen. I heard a question mentioning prostate enlargement and benign prostatic hyperplasia—aren't these two conditions the same thing?

Enlarged prostate and prostate hypertrophy refer to the same condition. Clinically, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is the same disease, classified as a urinary system disorder. These conditions all indicate an increase in prostate volume, which may compress the posterior urethra and lead to symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, and weak urinary stream. Some patients may also experience increased nocturia, difficulty urinating, or urinary retention. Patients should maintain adequate sleep and engage in moderate exercise regularly.
