Bleeding after menstruation can be treated with medication. If the bleeding is light, no treatment may be necessary; however, for heavier bleeding, estrogen therapy under a doctor's guidance or the use of hemostatic agents can be effective. Women who wish to avoid pregnancy or do not currently plan to have children may benefit from taking short-term oral contraceptives for treatment. If conditions such as thickened endometrium or hormonal imbalance are detected, estrogen or progesterone can be used to regulate the menstrual cycle.
