Itching and stabbing pain in the vulva may result from wearing underwear that is too tight or too stiff, improper wiping technique after using the toilet, or excessive vaginal douching. It could also be caused by frequent use of vaginal suppositories or regular wiping of the vulva with wet wipes containing fragrances. In addition, poor sexual hygiene or having multiple sexual partners may lead to vulvovaginal candidiasis.
