Disease description:

Recently, I've had testicular pain and don't know what's causing it. A friend suggested it might be orchitis or epididymitis. I'd like to ask, what is the difference between orchitis and epididymitis?

The main difference between orchitis and epididymitis lies in the variation of clinical symptoms. Most patients with orchitis develop symptoms 3 to 4 days after mumps, presenting with fever, exhaustion, scrotal edema, testicular swelling, hydrocele, and marked tenderness. Patients with epididymitis mainly experience pain and swelling in the scrotal area, discomfort, hard nodules, and significant tenderness; the pain may radiate to the ipsilateral groin and lower abdomen.
