Acute external otitis can generally be treated with oral cephalosporins or azithromycin. When purulent discharge appears in the patient's external auditory canal, the discharge should be cleared and treated with antibiotic ear drops, along with topical application of antibiotic ointment. In daily life, patients should avoid consuming spicy or irritating foods, refrain from alcohol consumption, and use cotton balls to block the entrance of the external auditory canal during bathing to prevent water from entering the ears.
