Does vitamin D have to be taken at night?
I bought some vitamin D for my child, but forgot to ask the doctor when to take it. A friend said to take it in the evening. I'd like to know, is it necessary to take vitamin D only in the evening?
Vitamin D does not need to be taken at night.
The timing of vitamin D intake is not fixed and can be taken at any time of day, depending on individual circumstances.
Vitamin D can be taken between meals, such as after breakfast and before lunch, or after lunch and before dinner, when the stomach is relatively empty, potentially maximizing its bioavailability. Alternatively, vitamin D may be taken within 30 minutes after a meal, especially after consuming fatty foods, because vitamin D is fat-soluble, which helps enhance its absorption and utilization. For individuals who work night shifts or are more active at night, taking vitamin D in the evening might be more suitable to compensate for reduced vitamin D synthesis due to limited sunlight exposure during nighttime hours. For patients with a history of gastrointestinal conditions, such as erosive gastritis or atrophic gastritis, it is recommended to take vitamin D 30 minutes after eating to minimize irritation to the gastrointestinal mucosa.
It is advisable to strictly follow medical guidance when supplementing vitamin D to ensure appropriate dosage.
