Can pes anserine bursitis be serious?
Disease description:
My knee has been hurting for the past few days, and I'm worried it might be pes anserine tendonitis. Could pes anserine tendonitis be serious?
Pes anserine bursitis is not a serious condition. With proper treatment—immediately ceasing activity as directed by a physician, undergoing physical therapy or applying topical anti-inflammatory medications, and taking oral nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)—recovery typically occurs within about 2 to 3 weeks. However, if adequate rest is not observed and activity continues, it may affect normal knee joint function in the future, leading to recurrent episodes. Therefore, it's important to ensure complete recovery from the onset of symptoms. Combining local corticosteroid injections with minimally invasive needle-knife therapy often yields excellent treatment outcomes.
