When is the best time for newborns to take vitamin D?
Disease description:
The child is very young and needs vitamin D supplementation, but I'm not sure when it's best to give it. Could you please advise when is the optimal time to give vitamin D to newborns?
It is generally better for newborns to take vitamin D after breakfast, as vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin. Taking it between meals, when fat intake is low, may reduce its absorption by the body. During daytime, vitamin D is more active and can promote the absorption and utilization of calcium and phosphorus. Babies should participate in outdoor activities regularly and receive appropriate sun exposure with suitable sun protection.
