Is there a cure for night blindness?
Disease description:
I can't see when going out at night; after a hospital checkup, the doctor said it's night blindness. I'd like to ask if there is a cure for night blindness?
Whether night blindness can be completely cured depends on the patient's specific condition. If it is caused by keratomalacia, timely treatment may lead to recovery. Night blindness is typically due to long-term, severe nutritional imbalance, specifically a deficiency in vitamin A. Vitamin A is required for the regeneration of rhodopsin in the rod cells of the neuroepithelial cells of the retina. Rhodopsin is light-sensitive and enables adaptation to dark environments; therefore, an early symptom of vitamin A deficiency (such as in keratinization) is night blindness.
