Cervical Nabothian cysts typically do not cause bleeding during intercourse. Most cervical Nabothian cysts are physiological changes of the cervix, occurring when the squamous and columnar epithelia shift beyond their normal boundaries, causing newly formed squamous epithelium to cover or extend over cervical glands. The presence of such cysts may indicate cervicitis, as Nabothian cysts gradually develop as retention cysts during the healing process of chronic cervicitis and therefore require timely treatment.
