What is a Nabothian cyst of the uterus?
Disease description:
I was diagnosed with Nabothian cysts of the cervix. What are cervical Nabothian cysts?
Nabothian cysts of the uterus, also known as cervical Nabothian cysts, are a common and frequently occurring condition in women of reproductive age. This condition is primarily categorized into two types: physiological and pathological.
1. Physiological factors: The openings of cervical glands become blocked, leading to accumulation of secretions within the gland and resulting in cyst formation. Cysts caused by such physiological reasons usually do not require specific treatment but should be regularly monitored to track any changes.
2. Pathological factors: These are typically associated with chronic cervicitis. Inflammatory stimulation may cause narrowing of the glandular ducts, leading to cyst formation. Additionally, during the healing process of cervical erosion, obstruction of glandular secretion drainage may occur, which can also result in cyst development.
Treatment for this condition should be determined based on the specific clinical presentation, and an appropriate therapeutic approach should be selected accordingly.
