What causes gallbladder swelling?
Disease description:
Two days ago, I took my father for a medical checkup, and the results showed he has gallbladder swelling. Could you please tell me what might have caused this?
Gallbladder swelling usually refers to gallbladder enlargement. It may occur when a patient develops acute cholecystitis and does not receive timely treatment, leading to inflammatory stimulation of the gallbladder or progression to chronic cholecystitis. Additionally, if a patient develops cholelithiasis or gallbladder cancer due to dietary factors, medications, or other causes, it may also result in abnormal enlargement of the gallbladder, manifesting as gallbladder distension.
