Disease description:

When I looked in the mirror today, I suddenly noticed many small white bumps under my eyes. After visiting a dermatologist, I was told it's sweat duct tumors (syringoma). I'd like to know what causes syringoma around the eyes?

Dr. Peng Xiaodong
Syringomas around the eyes typically develop due to the delicate skin in the periorbital area being exposed to excessive sunlight and ultraviolet radiation over a long period. This prolonged exposure can cause various irritations that lead to blockage of hair follicle openings, resulting in accumulation of secretions and the formation of syringomas. Ocular syringomas are relatively common benign tumors and generally do not require specific treatment. However, if they affect appearance or for other personal reasons, treatments such as laser therapy may be used.
