Treatment of ovarian teratoma
Disease description:
Symptoms such as abdominal pain and an abdominal mass were observed, leading to a diagnosis of ovarian teratoma. How is ovarian teratoma treated?
The primary treatment for ovarian teratomas is surgical removal, and a comprehensive treatment approach combining surgery and chemotherapy may also be adopted. For mature ovarian teratomas, surgical excision is the main treatment. Postmenopausal women may be considered for total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy. For immature ovarian teratomas, in addition to surgery, young patients who wish to preserve fertility require chemotherapy, which can kill cancer cells or prevent their growth and spread.
