Increased vaginal discharge with a yellow color and unpleasant odor is usually caused by inflammation or disease, primarily chronic cervicitis. Chronic cervical inflammation can lead to excessive secretion from the glandular tissue on the cervical surface, resulting in increased discharge. When there is localized inflammation, the discharge becomes yellow, thick, and sticky. During a gynecological examination, women may be found to have local congestion and swelling of the cervix, along with purulent secretions within the cervical canal.
