Symptoms of formaldehyde poisoning generally appear within 1 to 2 days. If indoor formaldehyde levels are severely elevated, symptoms such as eye irritation, red eyes, and breathing difficulties may occur within 5 to 10 minutes. High indoor formaldehyde concentrations typically cause symptoms after 1–2 days, while prolonged chronic exposure may lead to symptoms after 1–2 months. If formaldehyde poisoning is suspected, it is recommended to leave the contaminated environment as soon as possible. If there are signs of upper respiratory tract irritation, close observation within 48 hours is advised to prevent worsening of the condition.
