Ketoacidosis can present with respiratory, gastrointestinal, and other symptoms, and may lead to complications such as coma, cerebral edema, and heart failure. Ketoacidosis occurs when fat breaks down too quickly and excessively, causing gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea and vomiting, respiratory symptoms including deep and rapid breathing or shallow and slow breathing, as well as other manifestations like fatigue, loss of appetite, excessive thirst, and frequent urination. In advanced stages, the condition may progress to coma and trigger serious complications including cerebral edema and heart failure.
