Dr. Liu Feng
Sepsis refers to an acute systemic infection caused by various pathogenic bacteria invading the bloodstream, multiplying within it, and releasing toxins. Clinical manifestations include chills, high fever, rapid breathing, increased heart rate, rash, joint swelling and pain, hepatosplenomegaly, and mental confusion. In severe cases, patients may develop organ dysfunction, septic shock, disseminated intravascular coagulation, and multiple organ failure. Treatment may include cephalosporin antibiotics such as cefazolin or cefoperazone-sulbactam. Patients should remain bedridden, consume high-calorie and easily digestible food, and receive enhanced oral care to prevent fungal infections.
