Characteristics of acute dacryoadenitis
Disease description:
Recently, my eyes have often been tearing up for no apparent reason, and they've also become swollen. A friend mentioned it might be acute dacryoadenitis. What are the symptoms of acute dacryoadenitis?
Typical symptoms of acute dacryoadenitis include sudden onset, usually affecting one eye. There is marked localized swelling and pain in the upper outer region of the orbit, accompanied by tearing and ipsilateral preauricular lymphadenopathy. Patients often feel a raised lump or nodule-like protrusion. Systemic symptoms such as fever and headache may also occur. A palpable mass in the lacrimal gland is tender to touch, and restricted eye movement or even proptosis may develop. Avoid rubbing the eyes with hands, and maintain good eye hygiene and healthy visual habits.
