How is acute dacryoadenitis acquired?
Disease description:
My son has developed acute dacryoadenitis. I'd like to know how this condition occurs—we've always been quite hygienic.
Acute dacryoadenitis is a common ophthalmic condition caused by bacterial infection of the lacrimal gland. It is usually associated with poor eye hygiene, such as rubbing the eyes with dirty hands, which can easily introduce bacteria from the external environment into the eye and lead to infection of the lacrimal gland, resulting in acute dacryoadenitis. The main symptoms include swelling on the outer side of the upper eyelid, a deep-seated mass within the eyelid, significant tenderness upon palpation, and ocular congestion. Patients should avoid spicy and irritating foods, refrain from staying up late, and ensure adequate rest.
