What should I do if there is excessive dampness in the body?
Disease description:
Recently, my menstrual cycle has become irregular, and I often experience night sweats. After a hospital check-up, I was told that I have excessive dampness in the body. I would like to ask, what should I do if my body has excessive dampness?
When the body has excessive dampness, treatment options include:
1. Medication: Various anti-dampness medications are available. For instance, Pingwei San is used for excessive dampness in the middle jiao, Simiao Wan for dampness in the lower jiao, and Ersen Tang for generalized phlegm-dampness.
2. Physical therapies: Depending on whether the condition involves cold-dampness or damp-heat, different treatments may be applied. Non-pharmacological methods can also be effective. For excessive dampness, techniques such as cupping, sliding cupping, gua sha, and acupuncture can help regulate the body. In cases of cold-dampness, moxibustion can be combined; for damp-heat, acupuncture plus bloodletting may be used.
3. Dietary and lifestyle adjustments: Minimize consumption of greasy foods and items that may impair spleen function or promote dampness and heat, such as raw, cold, sticky, or rich foods, as well as fatty meats and fish. This helps reduce internal dampness production.
