How to interpret MRI for pituitary tumors
Disease description:
Suspected pituitary tumor, underwent MRI, but don't know how to interpret it. How do you read an MRI for a pituitary tumor?
MRI is required for pituitary tumors to evaluate the condition of the pituitary gland within the sella turcica and determine whether the tumor has invaded surrounding tissues, thereby assessing the size of the pituitary tumor. For small and well-encapsulated tumors, surgery can be performed via transsphenoidal microscopic approach. If the tumor is very small, radiotherapy may be considered in combination, although radiotherapy is still necessary. Treatment of pituitary tumors requires a thorough pituitary MRI examination.
