Dr. Huang Shichang
The three main clinical manifestations of radial nerve injury include sensory abnormalities, motor dysfunction, and other complications. In cases of radial nerve involvement on the back of the hand, symptoms are limited to reduced sensation. When there is a radial nerve injury at the wrist, the patient cannot extend the wrist or straighten the metacarpophalangeal joints. If the injury is located in the forearm, the metacarpophalangeal joints lose their ability to flex and extend, but wrist flexion and extension remain unaffected. During examination, pinprick testing reveals decreased sensitivity in the affected skin area. Following radial nerve injury, swelling, subcutaneous bruising, limb deformity, pain, and other symptoms are commonly associated with fractures.
