As women age, the functions of internal organs decline; if blood volume increases by an additional 1500 ml during pregnancy, the impact on the fetus becomes greater. Therefore, compared to women of normal childbearing age, advanced maternal age not only increases the risk of preterm delivery but also raises the risks of fetal malformations and gestational diabetes.
