Has the social phobia gotten better?
Disease description:
When I first started graduate school, I felt nervous speaking in public and hardly chatted casually with female classmates. Later, I learned this was called social anxiety disorder. Can social anxiety disorder be cured?
In most cases, social phobia can be effectively treated. Individuals with mild social anxiety often prefer behavioral therapy, during which they may choose either systematic desensitization or exposure therapy. Systematic desensitization is generally more acceptable to people, as it involves gradually progressing from low-anxiety social situations to higher-anxiety ones.
