Is bleeding during sexual intercourse caused by cervical cancer?
Disease description:
I've recently experienced bleeding after sex, which has been very troubling and frightening for me. I looked it up online and saw that it might be cervical cancer. My husband suggested I go to the hospital for a checkup. Could post-coital bleeding be caused by cervical cancer?
Bleeding after sexual intercourse may be a clinical manifestation of cervical cancer. In addition, post-coital bleeding can also occur in benign cervical conditions such as cervical polyps, cervical erosion, or ulcers. Generally, bleeding caused by cervical cancer is accompanied by symptoms such as increased vaginal discharge and pain, and responds poorly to conventional drug treatments. Most patients require surgical intervention or anti-tumor treatments such as radiotherapy and chemotherapy to alleviate symptoms to some extent. Sexual intercourse-related bleeding caused by cervical polyps, erosion, or other benign conditions can be treated with local surgical procedures.
