Is surgery an option for knee synovitis?
Disease description:
I've had synovitis in my knee for many years and have been undergoing various drug treatments at the hospital, but none have been effective. The past couple of days, due to bad weather, the pain has returned and become unbearable. A friend suggested I consider surgical treatment. Is surgery an option for knee synovitis?
Whether knee synovitis requires surgical treatment depends on the severity of the condition. Surgery may be considered if the local lesion is severe, other treatments are ineffective, and significant symptoms occur. For example, arthroscopic synovectomy can completely remove the diseased synovial tissue to achieve a cure. For mild knee synovitis, conservative treatment is the primary approach, including nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, chondroprotective agents, and adjunctive physical therapies such as massage and acupuncture.
