Symptoms of cerebral fluid accumulation
Disease description:
Recently, I noticed my son's forehead appeared slightly enlarged, so I went to the hospital for consultation. The doctor said it was caused by hydrocephalus. What are the symptoms of hydrocephalus?
Patients with hydrocephalus may present with common clinical symptoms such as dizziness and headache. Hydrocephalus includes both congenital and acquired types, with the following common conditions:
1. Congenital hydrocephalus: Certain congenital abnormalities or malformations in brain tissue development lead to cerebrospinal fluid accumulation in specific areas, or mild compression. Patients typically experience symptoms including dizziness and headache.
2. Acquired (pathological) hydrocephalus: This type results from trauma or other diseases causing acquired hydrocephalus. Patients often exhibit dizziness and headache; however, the extent, area, or volume of fluid accumulation may compress surrounding tissues and even lead to brain herniation.
