A neighbor's child has hydrocephalus and is unable to walk. I would like to ask, why does hydrocephalus cause difficulty in walking?

Dr. Guan Yanlei
The reason hydrocephalus patients are unable to walk is due to extensive dilation of the ventricular system, with brain tissue affected by hydrocephalus leading to increased intracranial pressure. Therefore, once hydrocephalus is diagnosed, timely surgical intervention is essential. Consideration should also be given to potential prior nerve compression causing some neurological damage. It is recommended that such patients return to the hospital for a follow-up examination, undergo a head CT scan to assess recovery progress, and receive appropriate treatment accordingly.
