In the past few days, I've noticed redness, swelling, warmth, and itching in the external genital area, and suspect I might have vulvitis. Could you please explain what vulvitis is? What symptoms can vulvitis cause?

Vulvitis is one of the common gynecological conditions seen in clinical practice. It primarily occurs because the female vulva is located close to the anus, making it highly susceptible to pathogen infection. Additionally, the vulva is easily irritated by external physical and chemical factors, leading to allergic inflammation, which often coexists with vaginitis. The main symptoms include redness, swelling, heat, itching, pain, dyspareunia (pain during intercourse), and dysuria (painful urination).
