Dr. Li Mingchuan
In cases of high uric acid levels, consuming river fish can help lower uric acid, but it should not be eaten in excess. River fish is rich in protein, fat, minerals, and vitamins, meeting the body's nutritional needs, and offers beneficial effects on cardiovascular and cerebrovascular health, fat metabolism, and immune function. Uric acid is a toxic substance produced by human metabolism; if not properly eliminated, it may have adverse effects on the body. River fish contains a substance called pyridine, which can inhibit the absorption of uric acid in the bloodstream, thereby reducing serum uric acid levels and helping to lower overall uric acid levels. Therefore, for individuals with high uric acid, moderate consumption of river fish can be beneficial in reducing uric acid. However, it should be noted that river fish may contain certain amounts of mercury and lead, so excessive consumption should be avoided—intake should generally not exceed 600 grams per week.
