I’m over five months pregnant, and my family is extremely eager to find out the baby’s sex. I think it’s truly fascinating! Could you please tell me—can fetal sex be accurately determined using measurements of biparietal diameter (BPD) and femur length (FL)?

Hello, The biparietal diameter (BPD) refers to the maximum transverse diameter between the two parietal bones of the fetal skull. Clinically, it is used to assess intrauterine fetal growth, evaluate potential cephalopelvic disproportion, and determine the feasibility of vaginal delivery. The femur length (FL) measures the length of the fetal thigh bone. Both BPD and FL are commonly used parameters to estimate fetal weight and length, as well as to monitor intrauterine growth. However, neither parameter can be used to determine fetal sex. We hope this information is helpful to you. Wishing you a happy and healthy life!
