Several Causes of Foot Sole Pain
Recently, I've been experiencing a persistent dull pain in the sole of my foot, which seems to originate from inside. I'd like to know what might be causing this and what are the possible reasons?
There are many causes of foot sole pain. Plantar fasciitis is particularly common, usually resulting from prolonged overuse that leads to aseptic inflammation of the plantar fascia. Thickened skin or calluses on the sole often develop due to chronic friction and wear. Fungal infections of the sole's skin can also cause pain. For plantar fasciitis, treatment primarily involves rest and immobilization to prevent further inflammation; local heat application and physical therapy to improve blood circulation and reduce inflammation; and topical anti-inflammatory and analgesic ointments to relieve pain symptoms.
In severe cases, local corticosteroid injections may be considered. For thickened skin or calluses on the sole, in addition to wearing loose and comfortable shoes, soaking the feet in warm water every night can help alleviate discomfort. If symptoms persist, it is recommended to seek medical attention at a hospital.
