Disease description:

Recently, my grandmother has been complaining of eye pain and blurred vision. People often say that elderly individuals are prone to cataracts, and our whole family is quite concerned. However, she refuses to go to the hospital for an examination. We would like to know what the early symptoms of cataracts are.

The early symptoms of cataracts mainly include the following: 1. Decreased vision: In the early stages, patients may experience mild vision loss and blurred vision, especially at night or under bright light. 2. Glare: Patients may have reduced contrast sensitivity under bright light, leading to glare when exposed to headlights at night. 3. Color perception changes: Patients may exhibit increased absorption of light at the blue end of the spectrum, resulting in reduced sensitivity to these colors. 4. Monocular diplopia or polyopia: Lens opacity can cause inconsistent imaging between the two eyes, preventing the brain from fusing the images into a single stereoscopic image, thus leading to double or multiple images in one eye. 5. Dark spots in the visual field: Patients may notice fixed-position, unchanging dark spots or shadows in their vision.
