Will epicanthal fold augmentation scars fade away?

Disease description:

My eyes were naturally slightly small. Three months ago, accompanied by my boyfriend, I went to the hospital for an eye corner augmentation surgery. However, recently I noticed a bit of scar tissue overgrowth at the corner of my eye. I'd like to ask everyone—will this kind of overgrowth after eye corner surgery go away on its own?

Whether epicanthoplasty-induced hypertrophy will disappear mainly depends on individual constitution, surgical conditions, and postoperative care and interventions.

In general, the hypertrophic phase after epicanthoplasty lasts about three to six months. During this period, hypertrophy gradually appears and may peak before slowly subsiding. In this process, the local scar begins to flatten, soften, and turn pale, indicating regression of the hypertrophy. However, the extent of hypertrophy varies from person to person. Some individuals may experience minimal scarring that resolves within two or three months, while others may require six months to a year—or even face a lifelong risk of persistent hypertrophy.

To promote the resolution of hypertrophy, treatments such as medication, physical therapy, or surgical intervention can be considered. Additionally, patients should pay attention to diet after surgery, avoid spicy or irritating foods, and refrain from rubbing the eyes with their hands.
