What does it mean if vaginal discharge has cleared after childbirth but bleeding starts again?

Disease description:

More than 20 days after giving birth, my lochia had completely stopped, but I've noticed vaginal bleeding again these past couple of days. What could be the reason for vaginal bleeding after lochia has already resolved postpartum?

Lochia stops after childbirth but bleeding reappears—this may be caused by the following reasons: 1. Poor uterine involution: If a woman does not get sufficient rest after delivery, the uterus may fail to recover properly, leading to vaginal bleeding after lochia has stopped, often accompanied by abdominal pain. 2. Retained intrauterine tissue: If fetal membrane or other placental tissues remain in the uterus, bleeding may occur when these remnants detach from the uterine wall. 3. Infection: Failure to maintain proper local hygiene after delivery may lead to bacterial or other microbial infections, causing symptoms such as foul-smelling lochia, lower abdominal pain, and abnormal bleeding. 4. Return of menstruation: In some women, especially those who are not breastfeeding, menstruation may resume shortly after childbirth, sometimes even beginning at the end of the puerperium. When such situations occur, it is advisable to seek medical evaluation promptly to determine the underlying cause and receive appropriate treatment. After childbirth, adequate rest, a light diet, and good personal hygiene should be maintained to promote recovery.
