Gout patients can consume lemons. Lemons are considered a low-purine food, containing approximately 3.4 mg of purines per 100 grams. Moderate consumption will not adversely affect individuals with gout. Lemons can also promote gastrointestinal motility, aiding in digestion and nutrient absorption. Although lemons are beneficial, they should be consumed in moderation. Excessive intake may lead to tooth sensitivity and enamel erosion, as well as irritation of the gastric mucosa, potentially causing gastrointestinal disorders. Gout patients should also avoid high-purine foods, alcohol, greasy foods, and spicy or irritating foods to reduce the burden on the kidneys and help control disease progression. If symptoms worsen, prompt medical attention is recommended.
