Dr. Liu Feng
The main symptoms of sepsis include the following aspects: 1. Toxic blood symptoms: Patients with sepsis often experience chills and high fever, mostly characterized as remittent fever or intermittent fever, while a minority present with continuous fever or irregular fever. These symptoms may be accompanied by general malaise, headache, joint pain, weakness, and a significantly increased pulse and respiratory rate. Severe cases may develop serious complications such as toxic encephalopathy, toxic myocarditis, intestinal paralysis, and septic shock. 2. Rash: Patients with sepsis commonly develop petechiae, primarily distributed on the trunk, limbs, oral mucosa, and conjunctiva of the eyes. In addition, various types of rashes such as urticaria and scarlatiniform rash may also appear. 3. Joint damage: Patients may experience redness, swelling, pain, and restricted movement in large joints such as the knees. In rare cases, joint effusion or purulent accumulation in the joint cavity may occur. If symptoms suggestive of sepsis occur, prompt medical attention should be sought.
