What to do if vomiting does not stop due to heatstroke
Disease description:
My child was playing and jumping outside today, and after coming back, he/she felt weak all over, dizzy, and has been vomiting constantly. I suspect it might be heatstroke. What should I do if vomiting from heatstroke doesn't stop?
When heatstroke is accompanied by persistent vomiting, the following measures should be taken immediately to alleviate symptoms:
1. **Remove from the high-temperature environment**: Quickly move the patient to a cool, well-ventilated area to lower the ambient temperature and reduce heat absorption.
2. **Replenish fluids and electrolytes**: Drink small amounts of cool beverages containing electrolytes or lightly salted water multiple times throughout the day, approximately 200 ml each time, to prevent dehydration.
3. **Oral hygiene**: After vomiting, promptly clean the mouth and rinse with warm water to maintain oral cleanliness and avoid odor stimulation that may trigger further vomiting.
4. **Medication**: Under a doctor's guidance, medications such as Huoxiang Zhengqi Water or omeprazole may be taken to relieve vomiting symptoms. If vomiting is severe, antiemetic drugs such as metoclopramide may be considered.
5. **Monitor the patient and seek medical care**: Closely observe any changes in the patient's condition. If vomiting persists or other severe symptoms occur, such as high fever or coma, immediate medical attention should be sought.
