What are the symptoms of heatstroke?
Disease description:
I feel a bit dizzy today and also a bit nauseous. Could this be heatstroke? What are the symptoms of heatstroke?
Heatstroke presents with a variety of symptoms and can be classified into the following stages based on severity:
1. Early-stage heatstroke: Patients may experience headache, dizziness, thirst, weakness in the limbs, and excessive sweating. Body temperature usually remains normal or slightly elevated, generally not exceeding 37.5°C.
2. Mild heatstroke: As the condition progresses, body temperature rises significantly to above 38°C, accompanied by facial flushing, chest tightness, and hot, dry skin. Symptoms may also include nausea, vomiting, and a drop in blood pressure, indicating that the body is struggling to dissipate heat but is already experiencing physiological imbalance.
3. Severe heatstroke: When the condition worsens further, patients may develop serious symptoms such as high fever (≥40°C), absence of sweating, impaired consciousness, or even coma, along with muscle spasms, convulsions, and difficulty breathing. These symptoms indicate severe damage to the body's thermoregulatory system and require immediate medical attention and emergency treatment.
