What to do about baby diarrhea
My baby is feeling unwell and has had diarrhea for the past few days. I would like to ask the doctor, what should I do if my baby has diarrhea?

Infant diarrhea can be caused by various factors, including viral infections, bacterial infections, allergic reactions, indigestion, or lactose intolerance. The following are some management suggestions:
1. Maintain hydration: Provide oral rehydration salt solution to replace lost electrolytes. Avoid giving fruit juices, carbonated drinks, or beverages containing caffeine, as these may worsen dehydration.
2. Adjust diet: If the baby is still breastfeeding, continue regular nursing; if receiving formula feeding, it may be necessary to switch to a lactose-free or low-lactose formula. Solid foods should temporarily avoid greasy and high-fiber items, opting instead for easily digestible foods such as mashed cooked carrots or bananas.
3. Hygiene and skin care: After each bowel movement, gently wash the baby's bottom with warm water. Using a mild protective skin cream or petroleum jelly can help protect the skin.
If the baby develops a high fever, frequent vomiting, persistent diarrhea, decreased urine output, excessive sleepiness, or severe symptoms, seek medical attention promptly.
